For cemtech fan, you can go to Artlantis Studio tab (below cemtech wall) to download the Atl (3.5mb), headlight.skp (300kb), smallheadlight.skp(300kb) to try it out first.

Creating Headlight Artlantis Object

1. Close and Save the Toyota Rav4'00.atl. We do not need this at this time.

2. In Artlantis, open Headlight.skp.

Please refer my tutorial Rendering Sketchup Files - Part I to understand why i paint so many colors on objects in sketchup. I also ensure both faces of a surface are painted with the same color/material. This is to ensure Artlantis can understand and segregate the the objects into the layers i want.

3. Apply shaders as per below.

4. Switch to Perspective Inspector, change the background as follows.

Note: If you have a good background, the aof object shown in the Catalog Window will be nicer.

4. In the menu, choose File > Export as Object... Choose your media folder, a place where you store your shaders and aof objects library. The Catalog Window in Artlantis can have your media folder as favorite, so that you can easily insert the objects in other files. Name the file as Headlight.aof

5. As you have created the Headlight.aof, you do not need to have the atl. Close the file without saving.

Creating Small Headlight Artlantis Object

1. In Artlantis, open SmallHeadlight.skp.

2. Apply shaders as per below.

3. Switch to Perspective Inspector, set the same background as in Headlight.aof.

4. In the menu, choose File > Export as Object... Choose your media folder. Name the file as SmallHeadlight.aof

You finally have created 2 artlantis objects, and ready to be used in Toyota Rav 4 model.

Covering the Old Fashion Small Headlight

The small headlights (orange color and white color) located below of the headlight of the car is old fashion. I wish to cover them with metal body and add the modern small headlight onto it.

They are currently in this old layer arrangement.

1. Create two new layers namely Signal Light and Back Glass

2. Re-arrange the layer and assign objects to layers as per new layer arrangement.

2. Switch to Objects Inspector, notice that there is an item called smallheadlight_1 in the View List is created. Select the item.

Once the item is selected, a blue dot in the Preview Window will be blinking, indicating the base point of the object. But, the object is too small. This is due to wrong size being used in the aof file. But, no problem at all, we can increase the size easily.

3. In the Object Inspector, type 1m for the Dimension X.

Notice that the base point is not located at the center of the object. This make us difficult to move the object.
